I would be upset to lose my kingdom, but I still agree. I've seen a *few* people discussing projects they want to start, on chat or on here, I think it might be really nice to have a restart (or a sub-world, as someone mentioned.) It would probably spark a lot more creativity in older players. Perhaps we could have an organization of older players to set up the new 'Sub-World' or an actual restart? What I mean by that, is they would do the server builds. They'd discuss a spawn, or a shop district, or just whatever. While I like the creativity and awesome builds people have done, it's hard to look around in populated areas and see a futuristic skyscraper next to a massive castle. Maybe this new 'sub-world' could be theme set, or multiple themes, just spread out, and far apart. Central spawn could have a fantasy look as it sort of already has, a shop district could be modern or futuristic.
I've also noticed a lot of new players wondering about towns. A new sub world could maybe have a few small-medium towns, with plots. Each town could have it's own theme, and players could build in their style around other players with that style.
Maybe it seems a little too farfetched, but I would REALLY enjoy seeing more organized builds, I think it would encourage creativity, and could be a great way for players to get to know each other better and make new friends.
*EDIT* So i've finished reading through the posts and I realize my post would only be IF there was a new world. So here's my opinion or maybe solution for the players who don't want one, and those who do.
A few have already said, but I think a portal to another world could be a solution. Maybe, that world could have it's own set of staff, (which I know could be pretty difficult) who want to be apart of it. It might be a new way to get new players to be less 'intimidated' I guess? I would assume a lot of older players would like to go that new world.
A little off topic from my edit part, but I've actually notice that simplex has grown more and more lore? I guess? Zanril has his adventurer's guild, with his own simplexian stories in the library. RulingShadows talks about a 'High Council' and there's 2 mafias. Perhaps a new world could be for the ones who want to a new start, and the ones who are making a very nice 'lore' within simplex.

I'll post a longer version of this later, but to sum it up, even though I've built a lot of stuff and I'd rather not lose it, I worked so hard to get the resources, but I'm fine with a reset. It's really annoying to find structures and so forth raided, and builds right next to where I've built. If possible, don't introduce the reset straight away, just give people a little bit of time to mabye screenshot their builds and so forth. I like the idea of one chest being carried over. But I'd rather keep the ranks.
Also, I have been thinking of lore for simplex, and I'm currently writing a short book called The Legends Of Simplex Just saying.
Anyways, that's my two cents, and tbh I'm not gonna write a longer one, this shows my own opinion. Also I like erendeil idea.

Poll is closer than last time, but not close enough. Maybe next year? If I do, do it, then maybe i'd make it an every 2 years kind of thing. But i'd like to get the word of more older players that they'd come back. Resetting the world is bound to lose many players so we need older players to fill that gap until things go back to normal.

Personally, even though I have worked a lot on my desert farm I would be fine with a reset. It doesn't bother me, i'll just rebuild again.

As long as we keep our ranks and we get a copy of the world I would be fine with a reset

If we do a reset for the love of minecraft and all that is square: MAKE THE SPAWN PROTECTION AREA SQUARE!!!! thanks. ;PI second this. And also speaking of this... make it a bigger spawn area so that all spawn builds are never loaded by neither the spawn chunks nor players being at the server spawn. Having farms loaded 24/7 is a massive advantage, and can most definitely cause a notable amount of additional strain on the server, depending on the farms. My opinion on this is still the same as described in my post on the previous thread regarding this subject. Frankly though, I'd also still like a much much much bigger world. (Even just 1 million would be nice.) alsopleasedosomethingaboutmansionmobsandtotemsandmansionsingeneralalreadythanks

If we do a reset for the love of minecraft and all that is square: MAKE THE SPAWN PROTECTION AREA SQUARE!!!! thanks. ;Ponly problem i see with that is with a smaller spawn it makes claiming adjacent to spawn too easy. people who are quick to claim and have large amounts of claim blocks can potentially wall in spawn. not sure if thats the reason behind it but i think having the diamond shape makes that more difficult. i also think a larger protection area (not spawn) would be good too. if the border is large enough, the shape whether diamond or square, would probably be irrelevant.

The only attraction to this server for me originally was the alck of resets...
JavaNinja has the best idea here.

Honestly I would come back... As long as ranks stay the same.

I've been thinking on it for a long time and I would like 3 things to happen for me to really want to stay:
1:Keep claim blocks. people including myself not only have spent a lot of time accumulating those claim blocks but have also PAID for those claim blocks. 2: Keep rank. I just can't even with the votes. that is why I stopped at 501 votes. it was painful enough to get to 501 once. 3: Keep inventory currently on a player at the time of getting the new map. "but that just gives people an unfair advantage, gosh." Here is my reason behind this: So people don't go crazy looking for the things they need to start their new homes. This would cause lag. they go and find a good spot and stay put for a few days fixing up their base, gives the server a chance at not being lag fest with all the new chunks being loaded at once. Also the thought of my hoard being gone in an instant gives me anxiety. let me get some things and hang on to them so as to not have a panic attack. change is scary, willing to do it if it isn't too scary and i have my things to make me feel safe.

I'm all for kitty's idea. I have several dubs full of items I've collected or building materials, my skull collection, a piece or 2 of map art, id rather take my building materials so I can set up shop relatively quick
