I voted for a nether reset. I think at this point, we should go with the nether reset. This is a huuuuge update for the nether. A ton of things in the nether are very different. I have a few reasons I am not going for a full reset at this point: 1. my first reason is a little selfish but i think valid. maparts. recently, my playtime increased around 6 days working on a 3x5 mapart with IotaReality. this is the biggest mapart on simplex. each mapart takes a significant amount of time and i would hate to see all that hard work go away. for me, and all the other hardworking mapart creators on simplex. 2. this is a nether update. i think at this point, going for a full reset would be ill timed. in the future, if there is a huuuuge world update that would significantly impact the overworld and decrease the quality of play if it were not reset, i would be on board for a full reset, with given notice of course. i love simplex as a server and i know any decision will be made to favor the community. i trust that the right decision will be made for the server. thanks for a great server ) -ranch

I vote for a nether reset. This update totally changes how the nether operates and adds a lot of new things in terms of nether generation and whatnot that we wouldn't have the full experience with if we didn't reset the nether. Most players (as far as I know...) don't really have many builds or valuables in the nether besides nether shops, so I don't think the community would be losing crucial pieces of our history!
As for a total reset, I think that should be put on hold and not done for this update (just like ranch says above). If we were to reset the overworld, I'd much rather wait for a large update that adds a lot of new things or dramatically changes world generation (new biomes, new structures, etc.) before we throw away all the builds and items players have collected over the years. I wouldn't want to see us reset the overworld without a really solid reason, which I feel the 1.16 update doesn't give us.
That being said, I still plan on continuing to play on this server regardless of what we do!

I would much rather prefer a nether reset. However, this would probably be a gigantic headache for the administration side. But would it be possible that, in the event if a full reset, schematics could be made of our builds so that we can keep them alive in a single player world? Ive been on the server since 2016 and while my builds arent anything spectacular, they are very nostalgic to me.

A nether reset is simply just deleting an easy to access folder

I would agree with resetting all worlds but after building and farming all my stuff for over the years.. I hate to lose them all unless Snurre has an idea how to keep inventory for the current active players.. Because in all honesty inactive players whether they quit or banned is taking space in which other players can take over.. I might be wrong but that’s my opinion. Otherwise, if that cannot be done, I would choose reset the nether.

i am personally in favor of a full world reset, while it will be sad to see the old builds and everything that has come with simplex go to waste im sure there would be a world download so it wouldn't be completely lost, with that being said i think a full reset would be extremely fun, it would be scary at first but we would all be starting together, think of all the new generating that would happen, the new shopping district and a new everything. This may be reflective of the kind of person i am but i love starting a fresh adventure and while yes you can do that on your own in the current world, it would be more fun to do that together with a community in my opinion.

The map has no new stuff to over it is the nether update not the overworld update. The world is not fully depleted with ores. You can complain about reduced ores but I keep finding ores everywhere when I mine. It has positives but also negatives. I would feel horrible to see my contribution to the collection just dissapear. Trust me I spend over 5 hours into that stuff. With a full reset lurking I lose motivation to finish my projects. I do not want to waste my time building stuff that will be obliterated into an empty void. i'm fully on your side...its an nether update so why are we talking about a full reset?...the world still has a lot to offer and i dont see the abandoned buildings as something negative...they spruce up every random teleport or exploration tour because you can find unique and fascinating buildings every now and then. its by far not a overpopulated or crowded server and u can walk for thousands of blocks without seeing any trace of another player.
for me a full reset would be devastating...i'm lost for words and i dearly hope there will be a world download in the case of a reset...

Well I have had a lot of fun on simplex and all the stuff I made is great and looks epic. At first I was no full reset. But if you think about it then it makes more sense.
We have almost no pillager outposts/villages that came with the 1.14 update. So that kind of stuff is pretty rare to find. Also bamboo forests are very rare because they where added later. If u find one then it feels like it has been pasted in there. So thats why it would be good.
Beside all the stuff in game should it be good for the server storage to reset the overworld. It can not be expanded anymore. The nether file size will expand too. So you are really running low on the server side on storage. I am afraid if everything becomes to big things start acting up weird or cause lag.
And yes I would love to contribute to build stuff back up and see how all things are going to work out in the end. Because sooner or later we need to reset and running low on storage space is no fun. So I gave it some thought and this is where I can have peace with.

If there is a reset I can make a schematic so you have the epic stuff u worked on. Your work can not be gone into the void. U spent a lot of hours on it so if it comes to that point I am willing to do that.

It's definetely a tough one when considering to do a full reset. I have seen this topic been brought up numerous times over the past 2 years, and it always comes down to a discussion between those who prefer to keep their builds, their items, their progress for proud, nostalgic memories and those who prefer to level with everyone on the community by starting out anew, in a whole new world. I have absolutely no evidence to back up the following claim, but judging by what I've personally seen, the more advanced and older players have been against a full reset, whereas newer player's tend to speak out that they prefer a full reset - This seems very logical to me. I too have builds on this server that contain a lot of memories, and I made those builds with so much effort put into every single one of them. I am not an avid player anymore, by all means. I rarely log in into the server, probably just once every month to check in on the fantastic builds I have made (according to my own opinion, they are fantastic) - Because I am proud of them. A full reset would probably stop me from doing so, as I've moved on to other places. I don't play here actively, so why would I even consider a full reset, you know? That's just my point of view.
I do not hold my builds as close to my heart that a full reset would devastate me. There might even by a chance that I would try again everything, and try to experience the same feeling I got when I first joined this server, which was YEARS ago. I would join the server again, and enjoy my time with everyone who was there and who is here right now. Most likely the people I knew back then are gone for the majority, so whoever I am adressing this post to has probably never even heard of me. I do think that the journey through a new world with no items, no automations and fancy riggidy-rag would be a lot of fun - I have enjoyed building up from nothing to something in numerous servers. At a certain point, I already had everything I could want in terms of items. What made me stay to play here were the people, definetely the people. I don't know the exact state of the social aspects of Simplex, but back then it was a very peaceful and nice community with everyone helping eachother out. At a certain point, everyone was an elite person in that server. Every single player... apart from rulebreakers of course. But my point is, is that I think community-wise the server would perhaps become even stronger and even more powerful then it already is, and it'll make for lots of interesting and new experiences for everyone to enjoy. So I have reasons to not reset the entire world, and I have reasons to reset it. I think neither of the choices will turn out great for everyone, that's God's honest truth, so it's up to the power of democracy to decide this for us.
Despite all of that, I hope my little 'rant' has given some insight to whoever has read the whole thing. If you did read the whole thing, thanks! I wish you a fantastic day.
EDIT: I do think that the journey through a new world with no items, no automations and fancy riggidy-rag would be a lot of fun*

i thk we are long over due for a reset there are to many builds and claims that have been left behind a reset would also help the server lag due to the simple fact that its having to load so much unused data every reboot 223GB is a Hella lot of data to handle id like to see 1 of 2 things first a full reset ever couple of updates and time limited claims so if u haven't been round for max 6 months the claim is deleted i feel that would cut down on how many claims the server has to keep track of .i thk running the same map for this long was a bad idea anyways after all a reset gives everyone a fresh start .and to the people who say they will rage quit what's the point of leaving this server to start all over on a new server you still lose everything but u also lose all the friends you have made on simplex so if ur willing to start over on another server then clearly you are fine with a full reset so stop giving people shit for wanting a full reset after all at some point the server is going to get to big and crash and we could lose everything forever one thing i thk they could do is make a backup of this world and work out how to give anyone that wants it a world download of their claims

That's why backups are made boo, so if something does happen we will still have the backup. I would rather want to keep playing till that happens instead of just cutting it off early.
