Hello all!
Simplex will finally hit the 1.13 branch. Here is some information about when and how.
Planned version: 1.13.1 (this might change to 1.13.2, if it gets released in time and Spigot makes a stable release. But most probably not)
Edit:1.13.2 is the version we're going for.
Changes: - The border will be expanded to make space for new world generation(Stuff like new biomes, kelp, coral reefs etc.). How much it will be expanded is not yet decided. - The end will be reset (we might keep some central builds, not yet decided)
Upgrade start time:
GMT/IST(Greenwich): Friday, October 26th, 20:00/8:00pm CET/CEST(Central Europe): Friday, Ocotber 26th, 22:00/10:00pm CST/CDT(Central US): Friday, October 26th, 15:00/3:00pm AEDT/Sydney(Australia): Saturday, October 27th, 07:00/7:00am
Upgrade end time:
GMT/IST(Greenwich): Sunday, October 28th, 12:00/12:00pm CET/CEST(Central Europe): Sunday, October 28th, 14:00/2:00pm CST/CDT(Central US): Sunday, October 28th, 08:00/8:00/am AEDT/Sydney(Australia): Monday, October 29th, 00:00/00:00am
The server will be taken offline at start time, and will be available to join again somewhere before end time, if everything goes according to plan.
We can't know for sure how long it will take, this is an estimate based on several upgrades on a test-server with a copy of Simplex.
Yes we know, it's a really long down time. But we have no choice, and the outcome will hopefully be great!
The server might look available now and then during the upgrade, but there will be a whitelist of only staff member who is working on the upgrade. So you will noe be able to join before everything is finished.
And by the way, the bug with items being lost in chests at chunk borders is fixed in Spigot. I know some of you were wondering about that, no worries!
Cya all on the other side!

Well, there's no overworld reset, so that means Ghombi (my tuxedo cat ingame) is fine. But will the two end farms stay or will one explode in a million pieces or will there be no end farms or...? Also Phantoms. Will it be like Hermitcraft where when one person sleeps, the whole world's time changes to day for convenience? Help me out!

When it comes to the end I believe the main island and structures may be safe.... For the phantom you don't have to sleep the night just have to get in and out of the bed.

It'll be the same as it's always been. Entering your bed should reset the timer that causes phantoms to spawn, even if you don't actually sleep and skip the night.

In preparation for this I'm just wondering what other people are using for their JVM settings as I can't seem to get the game to run smoothly in 1.13.2. Admittedly I haven't installed the latest version of Optifine yet.
My PC has 64gb RAM but I've only given the launcher 3GB -Xmx3G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=16M
I've changed the settings to Fast Graphics and turned off a couple of other settings....
Thanks NR

Thanks NR I don't seem to have any problems, and my laptop is only a 4gb potato. Turning visual additions like bobbing, clouds etc off will help, as well as changing to fast graphics, turning down render distance, things like that. And of course, Optifine will help too.
One other this is that your computer may need a defrag, which causes the whole thing to slow. And Minecraft also has a problem (at least in my computer) that it uses too much RAM and makes itself lag, but once you hit the RAM cleaner (I use Advanced System Care 10 and it has a button to do this) it clears out and stops 90% of the lag.
Hopefully this helps a bit.

Unless your JVM settings are absolute ass they won't really do anything otehr than allow you to have a higher render distance by allocating more memory. 1.13 is a lagfest in comparison to prior versions. Both client and server-side. Optifine helps a bit, but by far doesn't bring it back to 1.12 performance. Enjoy the frametime spikes Mojang 'blessed' us with.
