I would like to bring attention to a suggestion for the Simplex server. Which is to change the normal difficulty to hard mode. There are many reasons to do this, such as to boost mob farms (not the mob cap) so the farms are more efficient. Since afking past 15 minutes is not allowed, it just seems that mob farms are not worth the work. I believe a temporary "compromise" for both sides in the topic is to change the difficulty. Which gives people who make farms that involve much work like guardiab farms more of a reason to make them. Alot of people in the Simplex server will agree with me, with the large mob farms we make that do work have very disapointing rates. Which can influence a players decision on their future with the server. I have spoken to about 5 people about this and so far it seems to be a good idea. Thanks for reading this suggestion and please vote and leave feedback.

I agree with Jay, I have a mob grinder, and even when I am at its location for 15 plus minutes doing base work, I get like 3 to 4 mobs. It would be wonderful if we could increase the game difficulty.

Thats the thing, LARGE MOB FARMS ARE NOT ALLOWED. they are against the rules as they bring nothing but lag. one or two, not bad. everyone and their mom would want one though. thus lag. There isn't really any threat for the people who have been playing long enough but for players who just join are at risk of dying more often then they already do if we up the difficulty. Then when they ask for help, people will just get angry and tell them to go get stuff themselves. thus making the game not very fun for them. just my 2 cents.

I gotta agree with kitty on this one! There are many ways to make mob farms that are both efficient and lag free, its all a matter of design really. A few points for everyone; -Light up the place! place torches in every cave, tunnel, open space... basically everywhere in a 128 to 256 block radius! That way mobs wont spawn anywhere else. -keep your entity count LOW! the lower you keep it the easier it is on the server -kill mobs FAST -Not to much action at once! Try to fire a max of two pistons simultaneously, Big redstone systems tend to be lag heavy. -Do not copy big ass farm designs on youtube!!! Wrong server for that With all that, your farms will work like a charm and wont bog down the server!

There's something I would like to clear up. When I said large mob farms I meant any farm that's takes large amounts of work. Like a guardian farm for example. Not very big, uses very little Redstone which is optional and is very dissapointing even with all caves that are lighten up.

Well i totally supports hard difficulty level since we already have render distance to 8 which is even less than on relams server(10) and there is a bug which affect mob spawn rates based on render distance, hard difficulty will help maintain drop rates atleast it would be more fun to be scared at night time its the way minecraft should be....because night is dark and full of terror Reference to Bug i mentioned: bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-2536

I could have gathered it but i wanted to get this out there.

Description of hard level from the wiki, just so everyone know what we talk about here: Hostile mobs spawn, and deal greater damage than on Normal difficulty. The hunger bar can deplete and the player will starve to death if it drains completely. Zombies can break through wooden doors and can spawn reinforcements when attacked. Spiders can spawn with status effects. That means players in jail can starve to death Just a fun thought..

My mistake then. But there is also for gameplay, the server could use more farms for food, more food sales, and more of a challenge in the wilderness.

My mistake then. But there is also for gameplay, the server could use more farms for food, more food sales, and more of a challenge in the wilderness. The thing is... Once you spend enough time on the server, any sort of challenge is gone. A couple of small farms can take the entire survival aspect out of the game altogether. The food market is also flooded, having it hardmode won't fix that.
