Not everyone has the capital to setup a shop in the shopping district (or even get to the shopping district) and chat has mostly become bogged down with trade pitches. Maybe it would be better to set up a wall at spawn where people can post trades with signs, taking the discussion out of chat but also making it accessible to all players.
You could set a limit to how long a sign may be up for and once a sign is placed only the owner (or a mod) can take it down, you could easily enforce this with logblock and players regularly stopping by the wall to check for trades and noticing if their trade is still there. With enough people going by, rule violators will quickly be caught and the staff can just do a quick check and then send the offender to jail.

I'm not sure any "Capital" is required since it's free to setup a shop when you reach the required rank? There is a "Simplex" AND a "Shopping District" discord server should people wish to take their trade-talk else where. If there was a poll, I'd vote no on this one

Kcolford, don't worry, a few people including me are working on a large project that house trade rooms along with other things. People can discuss trades via a book in groups, or alone. I think it'll really help clean up chat with those types of things. of course it will need the initial 'Does anyone have so and so' but other than that it shouldn't have them discuss openly. Yes they could /msg, but I think it will be fun, and people will want to use it just because

We don't want ghost shops taking up the district. Plus, not all players are the required rank to go to the shopping district. All in all, setting up a shop is only useful when you've got a lot to sell and you've been around for a while. If you want to move trades out of chat then it has to be just as easy as it was for people to post them in chat. (Making more rules is just as problematic because it's more work for the staff to enforce.)

If you wish to have somewhere specific to talk about trades, we have both a "General Simplex" and a "Simplex Shopping District" *Discord Servers* AS WELL as in game chat for this. We don't need to have a 'wall of signs' on top of that (In My Opinion)

Ah, I see, sorry for the confusion.

Even with having a shop I think would be a good idea. You could advertise and people who just want to sell something they don't need would be able to. This being at spawn would really help and draw people to spawn also. A wall where anyone can post a sign would be nice.

I like spawn for the way it is honestly, adding a "sign messageboard" for everyone to use might be hard to moderate unless a mod or two is EXTREMELY active.
Which is not the case.
I like the idea, but for me the Cons outweight the Pros.
If this happens, expect me to use it though.

This is my opinion about this. If this would ever be set up, it would require a lot of work from staff members. It would require staff to check for outdated signs every day, read over everything all the time as we can not have a wall of inapropriate signs or other stuff that doesn't belong, manage permissions for every single player that wants to put up a sign(not sure if that is even possible to automate?), and I dont see how it's going to work in a good way, as players often are online at different times.
It's really not a big job to have a shop in the official districts, you'll get the required votes in under a week and you can theoretically sell one item in one chest, without building anything. At least for a start.

Well there might be a thing you can drop your book and quill in with a job inside it. Then that could be in a shop easily being open for all to look at the jobs. Players would pick one out contact the player and do the job. And if the job giver does not need a player to do the job they can simply take the book out. I have already planed a thing like this that will be in my tower in the sun district.
