I don't know how realistic of a request this is because i don't know how much maintaining a small website to run this would cost but it would probably be worth while if there was an online map of the entire server. This idea comes specifically from the Minecraft-Online map which if interactive and shows off how cool there server is. This would allow people to really view all the cool builds on this server and I personally think it would be a huge bonus.

It would also allow you to instantly locate mansions, sea temples, etc.
On a Survival server, I don't see an up side here.

Java makes a good point, but given how throughly explored the server is right now a map only showing explored areas probably wouldn't lead to many untouched structures.
That said, I do like the idea. I played on a server that had a website map a few years ago and it was great. I loved seeing where everyone was in relation to each other and it encouraged me to explore some really cool (open to the public) builds. Even though I like the idea I certainly don't expect the staff to implement it if they don't feel it's right for the server. Plus hosting on a separate site would need probably some more donations.

I'd like to point out when the server was a few months old our host messed up some stuff. Our files got messed up in their mess up. Everyone on the server lost claims, votes, claimblocks, some chunks became corrupt and the server was down a week. We've since obviously changed hosts but that scar can still be seen and felt. We lost a lot of great players, some of whom have not returned to reclaim their homes. Its why we are so hard on griefers. Its the reason they get banned instead of being just jailed. Its the reason we are pissy when a player says "well it was unclaimed." There are still a lot of builds unclaimed from that time. I fear this map would encourage more grief of builds we haven't found yet.

I have been on a server that had a map like this... It was bad because it did show generated structers but it was also helpful for seeing land claims players locstions and also was good for finding greifs as well. It has its positives and it's negatives... I am kinda on the fence for this server. We used dynmaps BTW.

On a Survival server, I don't see an up side here. Area showed on the map would have already been explored by players so likely raided too. Kitty makes a good point though.

Online maps are resource intensive and can cause the server they are installed on to crash. Its really not worth it.

I know this isn't the easiest to do, but I have an idea and more or less a structure system in mind for such a map. And this is the only way I could see a map working on a server like this. Basically, it will be a generated map preview of the map seed itself (Sorta like AMIDST). That way, it won't include builds (make it easy to find and raid unclaimed bases), and then you can decide if it will include structures or not. Since it won't include the actual map data, but just similar data generated from the seed, it will not need any processing power from the server itself (thus not causing lag) and could be ran from a different system, or even as a php script if the right resources/libraries exist. So what are we left with? Basically a default, untouched map of the world. What's good about that? You can see where certain biomes are without seeing certain base locations or lagging the server. Take it a step further, you could add a waypoints system where players could post locations to certain places, as opposed to an all or nothing deal. This would make it fun and interesting, giving places and incentives to travel/explore areas. However, all good things have downsides. In this case, the first problem is that it'll be too easy to find biomes. The second would be that a system like this doesn't exist yet. Although, with the right minds, it could be made. (I'd have to look into it, but I could probably try and make it)
