Hello! I have a suggestion for a warp to the shopping district. It would be easier to warp there, because you need to run from the spawn to the nether portal, and there to the shopping district. The warp would be an easier option.
Thanks.

This topic has been brought up multiple times before. I would like a warp there too, but Meehan (the server owner) won't make warps to players towns, shops, or builds.

I will look into making a rail line/iceboat path to the district as its really not that far from spawn.

That would be extremely helpful (a warp or a rail from the spawn with proper signage). Right now it is just not practical to go there to browse, and I didn't even know how to get there until I had been on the server for a while.

Would a rail be practical if multiple ppl are trying to use the same rail at the same time? Anyone else notice the havoc that can be wreaked on rail travel if an empty cart or mob is on the track?
Can the Shopping District not be considered/labeled as a 'community server build' that is run/maintained by appointed players (Zan & Jona)? Then Meehan can keep his no warp to players rule.

Im with Squee, i understand the issue with the warp to a town, but ION never lifted in the way it was expected to, and maybe the warp was abused, on the other hand, the shopping district is quite active, lots of players involved and is our simple way of doing commerce, the area should have a different status rather than a "personal" project of 2 players, since is involving everyone, mods included.
There should be a warp to it There should be a physical barrier made by Zanril, allowing only players above novice to warp there and no first time joiners asking for tpas or walking over, doing the damage and then leaving (jailed-banned)
Logs or socialspy can determine if the owner of the area abuses the warp system and not his own home to be there, since the warp should be used to commerce and explore the stores.
Just because one town warp was a mess it doesnt mean a new one will suffer the same fate.

The warp to ION wasn't a mess, it was not fair to others who had towns. Whos to say someone isn't going to make their own shopping district thats just as popular? Then the owner would want a warp there too. Meehan doesnt want a lot of warps.
On the note of the rail line there it can have multiple ins and outs. Though the outs wouldn't be used as much as people would just tp home. No real reason to go back to spawn unless you dont have an anvil or enchanting table at your place.

a dirt path road and a sign would be more than enough.

A warp really isn't needed. A path or signs would be sufficient.

I agree with the "path + sign" suggestion. Really, just a prominent sign at spawn and a clearly evident path would cut down on the endless stream of new players having to ask where the shops are. I'm a realist; I know it wouldn't eliminate it completely, so let's not throw that out as a knee-jerk counterargument. (Not you, kitty; I'm making side-eye at a few of the players, though. )

Actually i've had a change of heart. Today got me thinking why did I make a warp to the community farm but not Ion? Well I think the difference was that the community farm didn't need upkeeping (with the exception of a few rollbacks), it worked by itself and it benefited everyone on the server. The problem with Ion being a warp was that it dissuaded other players from make their own little town/community because they were at a disadvantage compared to Ion. This led to people constantly asking me to make warps to their town and there's a problem if there was a warp to everyones town, it just gets messy. I won't make that mistake again. However, the difference between the shopping district and Ion is that the shopping district is used by pretty much everyone on the server and it will continue to be used by everyone on the server as long as it is preserved by the owner. Whereas, the ion warp was beneficial to everyone a part of Ion but nobody else. Not to mention that once you've made a house in Ion, you tend to want to migrate elsewhere and build a place for yourself. Ion is temporarily used by a fraction of the community and it's not essential to the livelihood of the server. Trading is universal. It will never die. It is useful to everyone. So I think that's the difference.
So I will make a warp there if given permission by the owner, but on the condition that it only remains there as long as he/she is active.

While I was pretty neutral about the shopping district warp I'm still happy to hear it's going to be implemented. Its a good point that the district is a universally used area, like the farm but even more so.
