You can "claim" a dog by giving a wolf a bone. If it turns into a dog, it's yours. It doesn't matter whether this occurs within your claim area or not.
Does it work that way for horses?
So, if I'm exploring and come across a horse outside of my claimed area, and I tame and put a saddle on the horse, does it become mine?
Or does the taming and saddling have to happen within my claim area?
Thanks,
P.

Taming a horse outside of your claim will still make it yours only.

Something to note is that skeleton horses are already tamed by default. This means that if your skeleton horse is outside of your claim anyone can ride it.
