If anything, Shulkers are confused stoners who prefer to eat their drugs rather than traditional methods. They don't need a digestive system because once the effect has worn off, they regurgitate it onto you. Because humans are more susceptible to drugs compared to Shulkers, the left-over drug matter is still able to affect a human, explaining why when introduced to the Shulker's regurgitated drug matter they get sooo high.
