Often when I sign on during prime time, there are 45 or more players.
I think such a number is sustainable, and it would reduce helper and mod headaches to increase the punishment severity for rule infraction.
It seems like a lot of new players sign on just to grief and see what they can get away with.
I suggest something along the lines of two strikes and your out.
I can see a scenario where people are excited to join and get started, and may not fully read the rules, but a second violation demonstrates a willful intent to ignore said rules.
Just my 2 cents.

Typically when we see a second offense, the time of the punishment is doubled. When there is a third time we arn't very forgiving. Say some one xrays, second offense of xraying we typically dont give another chance or the time is doubled to 2 weeks. Third time xray and it would be perm for sure. We have a way of recording who does what and when their name comes up a second time we increase the time in jail or temp banned. We may seem gentle hearted but we can get mean when its needed.

Compared to other servers I've been on, the staff on this one are extremely lenient towards griefers and xrayers. I once played on a server that used to get near the top of several major server lists and a had a huge influx of new players all the time. They didn't have grief protection other than a thorough block-logger to roll back any damage, but the moment the admin caught any player griefing or xraying even once (especially newcomers), they were permanently banned immediately. That admin LOVED his ban-hammer. Sometimes I think the only reason he ran a server was so he could get the constant satisfaction of banning miscreants. We once asked him to tell us how many people had been blacklisted from the server. He had to go find a program that could line-count the file and came back about five minutes later with a number well over 4000. lol

I can only speak for myself, but i like to try and give people a second chance. sometimes players come from servers with no rules and just not read them or think they can get away with it. As soon as they see they cant, they have a few options: to keep playing after their punishment with the understanding they can't get away with it. they could come back and still think they can get away with it and find they truly cant. or they just never come back because "rules are just the man trying to keep us down man." so far this has worked out just fine. if we were a one offence ban server, there would be a handful of long time players that have turned around that wouldn't be here anymore. a few come to mind like unknowndude12 and our very lovely flower child beta. even with his very sarcastic attitude, beta is still a joy to play with (sometimes  ) so we try to give a second chance to those who may turn it around and be productive members of the server. |

Thats good, but imo, people coming to the forum and appeal with insults and such, should be banned forever, they pretty much lost it after the first temp ban and then wait for the time to expire and come again to the server to have a "second" chance to grief/xray and insult the staff again.....oh well  |
