twelve_zillion, you took 3 map art paintings from Rach's shop on 01-03 (the first day you were eligible to enter the SD, according to your story), and severely underpaid in two barrels (although at first I only knew about one). I pointed this (the one that I knew of) out to you today when I noticed the 1st barrel and gave you the chance to make it right. (At the time, I hadn't noticed the other 2 barrels yet.) There was no anger; I was trying to do you a favor to avoid jail and a shopping district ban. This, by the way, is typical when someone is ingame when we notice a single theft/underpayment.

(Also please note: I did not jail you. This is very unusual. We nearly always jail someone for 3-7 days after a theft. In retrospect, I should have. I messed up and did not follow procedure. But I'm not going to change that now, unless you create other reasons ingame to mute or jail you.)

You came, got square with one barrel, then bizarrely went to a 2nd barrel (where you hadn't underpaid) and reverse shopped (put back the painting you bought, and robbed the till of the diamonds it cost).

Then we discovered the 3rd barrel, where you also severely underpaid. By then you'd already given major attitude about all of the above in chat. First, you claimed it was just a mistake. Then you changed your story, and claimed that you'd only paid 2 diamonds instead of 24 in the first barrel because you didn't have the rest, and were going to come back later and make up the difference. (And yet, 2 days later, you had not - even if that had been OK, which it is not. You pay in full at the time of purchase, or you don't take the goods.) And you didn't have any credible excuse about the 3rd barrel, despite your ever-changing story.

To your point: at no point today was I angry with you, nor am I angry with you now. You reacted childishly throughout our encounter today, and you have continued that here.

The shops operate on trust. It's a huge drag for shop owners to find that they've been robbed, have to ask us to look into it, and then we try to sort it out. You demonstrated clearly that you are not ready to be trusted in the shops at this time.

Shopping district bans are for at least 6 months. Please stay out of trouble for the next six months, and you can appeal this. We will reconsider your request at that time.

twelve_zillion, I have carefully reviewed all the facts of your case with the rest of the team. There were odd circumstances "after the fact" of your purchases, but the simple fact is: you went into the shop on 01-03 (the first day you were able to enter the Shopping District, you said), and stole from multiple barrels. You took 3 map arts downstairs, and I just now discovered that you also took a banner from upstairs at the shop. In every case -- every single one -- you badly underpaid. That's theft.

Now, the odd circumstances:

1. 1st barrel (Unus Annus map art). Price: 24 diamonds for 2 map arts (12d each). You paid: 4 diamonds total (20 diamond underpayment). After I called your underpayment to your attention, you came back and put 20 diamonds into the 1st barrel, and were "square".

2. 2nd barrel (monke map art). Price: 20 diamonds for 2 map arts (10d each). You paid: 4 diamonds total (16 diamond underpayment). After I called it to your attention, you put in 8 diamonds, and put back 1 painting. Even though "reverse shopping" is normally not OK, you were just trying to get "square". So far, so good.

3. 3rd barrel (Parcival map art). Price: 20 diamonds for 2 map arts (10d each). You paid: 4 diamonds total (16 diamond underpayment). Your paintings were vanished by the server due to some glitch. (Staff is aware of the glitch. You were not the only one affected.) So... it's kind of moot, except Rachel is still out the payment for the paintings. She's still robbed.

At this point, I had not jailed you, because of all the circumstances; just banned you from the shopping district due to your consistent underpaying (stealing, by any other name).

4. The final straw: today I learned that you also took a banner from upstairs. Price: 3 diamonds. You paid: 1 diamond. Again, underpayment. No odd or extenuating circumstances this time. Just straight-up theft (underpayment).

You don't get to go into a store and just pay a token payment of 1 or 2 diamonds for things that cost more than that. That's not how it works.

Despite the peculiar circumstances after your shopping trip, the fact remains that in 4 out of 4 cases, you paid a token amount for things that cost much more than that. That's not OK.

In light of the now 4 incidents, you are now jailed for 3 days (would have been 5 days, but it's already 2 days since the incident), which is customary in cases of multiple thefts. The Shopping District ban stands. You may appeal it in a minimum of 6 months from now, if you've had no further incidents between now and then.

If it helps any: other players are banned from the Shopping District but are still able to buy things from there, with the help of friends who will go there for them. Mostly what you lose out on is the ability to go see the awesome builds and browse the shops. Hopefully after this "timeout" you'll be able to return to the District on your own.
