Minecraft Username: MeatyTankus
Punishment and Duration: Ban for 1 year
Reason: My IGN was considered “offensive” by JavaNinja
Appeal: for Christmas I received a shiny new pc and a copy of Minecraft to go with it. I decided on the account name “MeatyTankus”, honoring both my childhood nickname “Tankus” and my favorite Rainbow Six Siege YouTuber, MeatyMarley. MeatyTankus has been my account name for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam for over 3 years now with no prior incidents regarding how offensive the name was. Only a couple hours ago though, JavaNinja regarded my name as supposedly inappropriate towards the server. I asked how and why, with no response to my questions. I came to accept the fate of my IGN if I were to continue playing on the server, and asked Java how to change my name since I am fairly new to Minecraft Java edition. Because I made my account on Christmas, I still had a 30 day name-change cooldown, and as a result, couldn’t change it. That’s when I found myself banned from the server for a whopping 365 days. I think this ban is very unnecessary considering I cannot do anything regarding my IGN, not to mention how I STILL have not been informed why my name is offensive.

My friend, for an appeal, you're coming on amazingly hostile.
1. I didn't make the judgement; as I said, I was simply passing the instructions from the owner (SnuRRe) who came to the decision after discussion with the team. Staff hadn't acted on it up until now because SnuRRe was unavailable, and we wanted his input before taking this step.
This -> ("JavaNinja regarded my name as supposedly inappropriate towards the server") is a mischaracterization of what I told you ingame earlier today. "I asked how and why, with no response to my questions." This is also untrue. I had already told you that I was passing the message from staff, and that the appropriateness wasn't up for discussion.
This is what I told you ingame, copy/pasted from my log: You continued TNT mining anyway, but I waited until you had mined some exposed ancient debris and got clear of the lava before I dropped the tempban.
2. You were banned for "365 days" as an arbitrary (but large) amount - sufficient for you to change your name and let us know that you had, with the (intended to be clear) implication that you would be unbanned immediately once you had done so. If that implication wasn't clear, I apologize for causing you concern over the duration of the tempban.
3. Your friend emmaryanliam let me know ingame about your situation regarding your name change timing. I am sympathetic, and I'll tell you the same that I told them: "please let him know I'll let him back in and continue to play, as long as he promises to take care of it as soon as he's able. I'll also reply on the appeal. Thanks for passing the message"
tl;dr - you're free to come back and play as long as you promise to change your name as soon as you're able.

To Clarify (and to take some of the heat?): It was myself who identified the issue with the name. Whether you are aware of the issue or not, your name unfortnately means something rather inappropriate.
Given the nature of our server and it's player-base, I raised the concern.
To reenforce what Java said above: Please change your name ASAP.
Kind Regards, Phleanix
