Hello Simplex.
This is about the problem with elytra hoarding and the people who lack the proper sense of morality and etiquette. The people who believe that extortion is not at all morally repugnant, and attempt to justify it in vain.
The actions of these people who will go unnamed has had grave consequences, affecting many in our community. From the newest of players to the most veteran and loyal, it has truly poisoned our very community. It is clear that there is not much that can be done about this problem. To our community affected by this unjustifiable extortion and now-poisoned atmosphere of our survival server, I can only offer you this message. The actions of those who wish to do our community harm are not easily forgotten.
This crisis is something we, as a community, must display our united resolve to. We will ride out the storm. We will make it out of this crisis as a stronger, more connected community. We must resist, and, above all, we must not forget what has happened and the people who have caused it to happen. Do not be discouraged, because if history has taught us one thing, it is that history does not forget easily.
We will return to a sense of normalcy. We will reappear on the other side as a better, wiser community. We are a united front against the people who wish to do our community harm for their own greed in such a display of immorality that I never thought would have sought to bar the progress of this wonderful community. We have a clear conscience. They do not.
I am nearby, together with you all and eagerly awaiting your return on the other side. We will all make it out together.

Hi Zephy, thanks for posting this! I had a really long response all typed up but I don't want to ramble to people who either already agree with me or people who aren't going to change their mind no matter what I or anyone says so I will keep this short. I think this issue is something worth addressing and not just for one in-game item but the implications of these actions and its effect on the server as a whole.
Basically, people are entitled to play in whatever way they want (builders, redstoners, ringing bells for 4 hours non-stop just to get #1 on the leaderboard, etc.). When someone's "play style" is to deliberately hoard a scarce and extremely useful item just for the sake of doing so and/or to artificially inflate prices, that goes against everything I know and love about this server. A "play style" that is prioritizing screwing over everyone else and taking away their enjoyment for the game may not be breaking any server rules, but I still don't think that makes it right. On Simplex, most players want to create the most fun and kind environment possible for everyone. Actions like this create a hostile, unwelcoming, and overly competitive environment that I myself do not want to partake in or encourage. I love this community and I really hope this issue is a temporary one, and other players don't continue on this trend of facilitating an antagonistic and toxic environment on the place I call my Minecraft home.
I hope this doesn't come across as a personal attack or anything, I am not calling names or saying anyone is an awful person or anything like that - it's a block game. But just thought I'd share my thoughts on this matter and welcome others to share theirs as well! <3

In short, this is a multi player game, it should be fair for all players, yes?
Now it’s understandable that scarcity will exist, and that scarcity meets demand for a resource at some point creating the need for a market. This is what happens in real life in capitalist markets. Is it fair? That’s a debated issue.
But this is not real life, the game should be able to be played by all players, new ones, old ones, people who play twenty seconds a day like myself or people who play twenty hours a day. This is where the issue arises, playtime. Some players will have more time to gather more resources than others, others will rely on those who play more often to gather those resources and pay for their labor. Boom, market economy, a great thing.
Then we have resource hoarding. It’s not always illegal nor is it inherently bad. But in a block game it is plain rude.
Take all that as you will, little economics lesson.
Tl;dnr: be nice it’s a block game, let people have fun.

This whole elytra hoarding made everything in chat a lot worse. Starters/amateurs and novice players wanted an elytra but then they heard what happened and the whole thing became blame game. This is exactly what I do dislike. I have an opinion about it and it comes simply down to: I do not think people should hoard until they have a chest full of elytra shulkers to create a shortage and sell them for insane prices only to benefit from other players.
But I think this will continue and there is nothing we can do about it. But if this 'toxic' behavior stays on simplex then I will simply take a long break from simplex until it passes.

We are getting a end reset so more elytra's will come on the market.
Also if you don't want to sell your elytra to a person then don't.
Imo there is no drama or no toxic on the server. It's all fair business.
There is no stealing or griefing no rules that are been broken.
I'm not defending anyone because i don't have any connection with any of these players (As far as i know of the players that i know are doing this).
But also i'm not offending anyone by posting this message (I gues).

Even if it is a not very nice. -I was told that it was funny that my dad got COVID -I was made fun of in Simplex chat last night because I wanted Staff intervention -I was told that I was just trying to cause drama and that it was all a hoax by the person who I called out and exposed for their behavior -I was also later harassed again in Simplex chat to the point where I had to report the person because they couldn't stop being toxic, all because I raised awareness to what they were doing -People on Discord also attacked my character and credibility because I called them out, even though it was completely anonymous and they themselves have shown their true colors when they could've just stayed silent Calling out someone isn't drama. It's raising awareness so we know who these people are as a community.
You're absolutely right Crafty, they are well within their rights and it's not a very nice thing to hoard, the whole idea of this thread was to tell people to be patient and to stick together so we don't forget the people who've had no consideration for other people and who are, quite frankly, being jerks. It appears that you did not read the post, it's evident and that's quite alright.
I don't need to take input from someone who made fun of my dad dying with COVID-19.

I think Zeph did a great job addressing the issues with players mistreating each other, but I just want to talk about your last statements about how these "hoarders" are well within their rights to do what they're doing. As I said in my original comment, I agree that their actions are not breaking any explicit rules. However, should we not expect more out of our community members? That not breaking explicit rules is the only baseline for positive and kind behavior? Because I don't think so. I think what makes this server as successful and wonderful as it is is the fact that players by and large treat each other with kindness and are considerate. The actions I have seen from a few players regarding this issue have been unkind and selfish in my eyes. I'm not asking for players to be banned or anything like that, because I don't think that's necessary nor helpful in alievating these tensions. But I think this is something that needs to be talked about to prevent further problems from arising. Also, I think it's too early to say with certainity that an end reset will fix the market. I (alongside many others I'm suspecting) are surprised we need to reset the end on this map after only 3 months. I could argue that resetting the end will only exacerbate our current problems. If these kind of behaviors we are calling out continue, I would guess that things will only get worse as a few players begin to own the whole market. But who knows, I hope you're right that things will be fixed after this reset and the market goes back to normal! I look forward to buying elytras in the future as I need them for a fair price  |

After I read the message I immediately deleted the reaction. NOT ONCE did I make fun of your dad dying. That is beyond fricked up and I would never do that. I did try to post a screenshot but you deleted the message so I can't actually defend myself.
Also you are correct calling out someone isn't drama. But it sure as hell leads to drama.
