Ender dragon appears at the other side of small end portals

If part of the ender dragon flies through one of the smaller end portals that leads to the outter islands, and is killed afterwards, the ender dragon will still appear at the other side of the end portal for about a second when going through it for the first time. This causes the player to get strongly knocked back by, quite possibly falling into the void. I'm not sure if this is a bug in general or if it can be fixed for the server, but if it can that would definitely be great as I've nearly died a few times from that myself, and know one person has died from it once for certain, though there are probably more cases.

Edit: After having a look around on mojang's bug tracker I can't find anything about this there. Might test this in a new world later.
