Punishment and Duration: Jail, 5 days
Reason: reverse shopping
Appeal: I was jailed for reverse shopping, which I didn't know was a thing until I spoke to Mau about it. I told him I did it sometimes to make some money. I thought there was nothing wrong with it, since the shop owner doesn't lose any stocks, the customer still gets their stuff and I got some diamonds. However, Mau thought me it was illegal, so I stopped doing it. Once I knew it was strictly forbidden I stopped doing it. I don't think jailing me for 5 days for doing something I didn't know was illegal is just, as I stopped once I knew it was illegal. I would say banning me until friday would be fair, since I did commit the crime.
I am even willing to pay back 2 dia blocks, which is prob what I made from the crime.
I know I did something wrong, and as I said, I will not do it again, I just think 5 days is a bit excessive.

It's when you take the earnings of someone's shop, and replace it with the stock items the shop is selling (so stealing). Not knowing that it's wrong shows a huge lack of common sense. Kitty will answer your appeal in an official capacity though.

Meehan I now know it is wrong, as you are litteraly using somebodies shop as your own, but at the time my reasoning led me to believe I was not doing anything wrong. This is why I asked for my sentence to be reduced, and not completely removed.
(my reasoning at the time was: the shop-owner doesn't lose any of their stock and still makes some diamonds, the customer still gets what he/she paid for and I get a bit of the spoils for doing some work. Speaking to Mau has made me change my point of view, and I realised it was just using someones shop as your own, which is wrong.)

I would say being both banned from the shopping district for life and being jailed for a week for something I now know is considered wrong and I am willing to make right is a bit excessive.

I now know reverse shopping is a thing, and I now know it is illegal. I promise I will never do it again, as I hate not being able to play, especially in a period of being stuck at home like this one. I will also, out of guilt, repay the shop I reverse shopped at by buying up 20 diamonds worth of their stock, as 20 diamonds is roughly what I made from this practice. I realise what I have done wrong, and feel like I shot myself in the foot by jailing my account for a week and denying myself acces from the shopping district. I wish for someone to see I that understand what I have done wrong, and that I am willing to make it right again. It was never my intention to steal peoples stuff, but I now see I more or less did, which I feel extremely guilty about.
I am ashamed to be banned from the shopping district, and wish this is something that could be negotiated.
I really missed the server in the past few days, and will make sure to, once my jailtime runs out, live by the rules far more carefully, as I do not wish to have simplex taken away from me once again.

Hello sorry I haven't seen this til now, The rule of not reverse shopping is not only in the shopping district guide given to all shop owners, but it is also on a lectern at both sun and moon for non shop owners. It is also posted in it's own channel on our discord page(shopping district discord) I shall unjail you this time but the SD ban remains. You may appeal again after a long while and we'll review it then.

9) Branded and Exiled
Theft is NOT tolerated on Simplex. Any and all cases of theft whether being reverse shopping (taking diamonds out of chests and placing items in without authorization), or stealing payments or items from shops will not only get you jailed, temporarily or permanently banned (in severe cases) from the server, but exiled from the shopping districts.
