Hey guys,
I'm appealing a recent ban from last night for using X-Ray. I understand that the anti Xray pluggin tripped while I was mining last night but I think you'll find that I just got incredibly lucky and hit a few good diamond veins in a row. I'm new to to the server so I've been on a push to get some diamonds and gear up so i can stop living in terror of creepers in the night, but by no means was I using a plugin to help me along. My mine is very much just a big branch with a few intersecting caves. I mined all the ore with silk touch and when i tried to convert it to diamonds back at my base, doubling the count I assume according to the plugin that counted as double and it tripped. I'm not running any mods at all.
Thanks you for considering my appeal.

To be blunt, you're a liar. We use a plugin (LogBlock) which logs every block placed or broken. Your mining left tracks. In just the past 2 days, you'd racked up over 100 interactions with diamond ores. Impressive! That's easily doable via honest strip mining... but no. You were xraying for diamonds and other ores. Below is a screen shot of just the first of many of your mines which I examined. Literally everything in the frame of that screen shot, starting at the lava in the foreground, was covered by stone and/or a lava lake. All of it. You could evidently see that tempting vein of diamonds from across the cavern (using xray), and carefully mined your way to them -- going around the lava lake, through many meters of stone, and finally filling in part of the lava lake with the diorite stone you acquired along the way. At last, your prize was within reach. (pictured). Your temp ban stands. You may rejoin the server in 7 days (be glad we don't use a "double the penalty if you lie on your appeal" rule). A second time xray, or any other significant violation of the server rules, cheating, or use of hacks, will result in a permanent ban.

Thanks for your quick reply JavaNinja. I appreciate you taking the time to review.
I wouldn't have considered it uncommon for people to open up the walls around lava lakes in their hunt for diamonds, or to lay down blocks to cover that lava before mining them out and risk losing them. In my experience I find more that way than anywhere else. That's why, as you put it, I "carefully mined my way to them -- going around the lava lake" and didn't bridge straight across as if i knew where they were. I do appreciate how it might look from your point of view as well though and being that there's not a way that I could definitively prove that I wasn't using some sort of modification to improve my chances of finding Diamonds I'm not asking you to re-review or put any more of your own time into reviewing my appeal, but if you did have a look around you'd find more than one lava lake within my mine that has a ring mined around it and I'm sure some of those would show that even though I mined around them in the exact same way they didn't yield any diamonds.
The fact of the matter is that I wasn't using Xray or anything of the like. The only textures I run are from vanilla tweaks to improve a few quality of life aspects of the game. I literally just learned that Xray is a texture pack, not a mod in the past few hours. I'm happy to mine the old fashioned way and spend many hours underground. I wont be back on the server, having the weight of a perma-ban for a circumstantial method of mining on my shoulders will keep me away, but I hope at least for future cases my reply will help you to consider more than just the blocks around the plugin triggered offence in question before you call someone names and make assumptions based on, albeit suspicious looking in your eyes, false pretences.
Thank you for your time. In the short time I played on Simplex, I enjoyed it immensely. You have a great sense of community among the people on the server and some of the buildsI encountered in my exploration inspired me greatly.
Happy Mining

If you'd burrowed into the walls anywhere else in that cavern... if even one of those diamond ores had been visible... if they'd been closer to the lava, say, just 1 or 2 blocks away instead of way back in that pocket... if that had been the only instance I saw... then I might believe you. I hope you can understand why I don't.
Also, it wasn't just that one example. There were others, I just didn't see the need to catalog them all here. The data is still there on the server if it should ever matter.
In any case, there are many other players who play and have fun on Simplex without fear of being banned, because they don't cheat.
If you find that you cannot join their company, then I wish you well in your journeys. Cheers.

Follow-up: on review with the rest of the team, the group consensus is that the evidence I presented was too thin to justify the tempban. The tempban is rescinded as if it never happened. If you wish to continue playing here, I encourage you to do so. I apologize for the fuss.
