I believe I saw this same topic a while ago but I want to say it again. I hate phantoms so much and I know I'm not the only one. They are annoying and truly serve no purpose other then ruin my night. I noticed that my friend seemed to lag more on his crappy computer when phantoms roll up to the club. And I know what you're thinking, "just sleep." But I may not have a bed near me, or I'm working on a project. Sometimes the phantoms don't even go away. I honestly just don't like phantoms and they are a pain in my table so please make them go away. (By the way I didn't research much so leave your ideas/responses/etc down below. Also go easy on me lmao)

It wouldn't be very semi-vanilla to remove them. From my understanding things can't be messed with too much or simplex can lose that status on the voting sites.

Phantoms aren't limited by a mob cap. They'll keep spawning more and more frequently the less you sleep. As far as removing phantoms and being vanilla- we were semi-vanilla back in 1.12 without phantoms. If we conformed to the "vanilla standards" for every version, veil bows wouldn't be a thing because they're not obtainable in 1.14.4 vanila. The funny part is that even future game versions have a gamerule to get rid of phantoms. It wouldn't be the end of the world to consider alternatives.
I think the best solution would be to increase the amount of time for phantoms to spawn from 3 nights to 7-9 nights. OR we should consider setting up a multiplayer sleep plugin (where only a third or half of players need to sleep to make it day) to actually make sleep useful again. Unfortunately, we play on a server that doesn't like change so the suggestions/complaints section is the only thing more pointless than the phantoms.

If phantoms are really such a big nuisance for the majority of players, and you guys just really hate them, I think I would be open to limiting them somehow. If though. Something to discuss with the staff. Phantoms seem really pointless me too actually. Do we have any arguments here FOR phantoms?

My issue with that question is, there is no argument for phantoms. My response is, are there arguments for cave spiders, silverfish, bats, or zombies? Again, just sleep. Have a set home by your bed and a set home where you’re working. Not that hard.

Today may just be the greatest day of my life, Meehan himself responded to my post! Also as Milan said they can be used for potions but that's really about it

Potions of slow falling and Elytra repair. A bed should be just as needed in the inventory as a sword or pick. Also fun fact: If you sleep while phantoms are still in the air, they do not despawn. you either have to kill them then sleep, or sleep before they spawn. They are annoying little shits but somewhat useful little shits they are.
