There is only so much space a sign, book, or chat message can use, and because of that some of the rules might be too vague as there is a lack of detail, which this thread aims to solve. Where applicable, these rules apply not only in-game, but also as on the discord server and the forums. If you need further clarification on any of the rules or have additional questions, feel free post them in this thread.
- [1] No Griefing Or Stealing (This Includes Unclaimed Areas)
If it's made by a player (meaning not naturally generated) and you don't have their explicit permission to take anything from it or touch it, then don't touch it. This includes abandoned buildings and unclaimed things. The only real exceptions are things such as random dirt pillars next to your house.
- [2] No Advertising
Advertising something outside of the server, such as your own Minecraft server or YouTube channel is not allowed. Advertising something inside of the server, such as something you're selling is okay to do as long as it doesn't break rule [3]. Additionally, please do not post random discord invitation links on the discord server.
- [3] No Spamming In Any Way Shape Or Form
This includes command spam such as /afk and /suicide. If you're advertising your shop or items you're selling please do so only once every 20 minutes at most. Don't repeat the same thing over and over again, and be mindful of how frequently you press enter before finishing a sentence.
- [4] Be Respectful To Everyone
Calling someone names or generally being disrespectful is not allowed. This includes being disrespectful through other means than chat as well, such as not leaving someone alone by constantly pushing or hitting them when they've asked you to stop. Swearing is okay so long as it is not used as an insult and isn't used excessively.
- [5] No Cheating Or Hacking
Using something that gives you an advantage over others is not okay. This includes cheats, item/entity duplication, and mods that give you an advantage, including things such as minimaps with hostile mob blips and schematica's print feature.
- [6] Do Not Build Large Mob/Lag Machines
Do not create a contraption with the sole purpose of creating lag. Generally speaking most farms are fine, however, if they are very laggy you will be asked to take it down. Gold farms in the overworld are disabled and will not work. Farms that use flying machines, create a lot of light updates, and/or a lot of block updates have a high potential of breaking this rule. This is something that's impossible to draw hard lines on as almost anything is scalable, but if you think something might break this rule, please ask a staff member before building it.
- [7] Do Not Attempt To Kill Players (Outside PvP Arena)
This is a PvE server and PvP is only allowed in the dedicated PvP arenas. Attempting to kill players outside of one of the arenas or creating a player killing trap is NOT allowed.
- [8] Do Not Build Or Claim Land Near Other Players
This is to allow people to have room to expand their base, and not have to deal with a neighbour suddenly popping up in their back yard. The absolute minimum distance between claims is 50 blocks. Perhaps it's best to stay 128+ blocks away though. You may build or claim land closer to someone else if it's a mutually agreed upon, of course.
- [9] No AFK Machines, Fishing farms Or Auto Reconnect Mods
Anything that prevents you from being automatically kicked for being AFK is not allowed. You may idle at your base or a farm as long as you're actually there though. The reason this is a rule is because taking up server resources when you're not even there is a waste of said server resources. No one wants to play on a laggy server where half the people online are always AFK, causing half the lag.
- [10] Fill In Holes Caused By Creeper Explosions
- Perhaps more of a guideline than a rule, but if you're anywhere remotely near someone's house and have a creeper explosion cause damage, please try to fill it in. No one likes their landscape to become a mess.
- [11] No Exchanging In-Game Items For Donations
Buying in-game items in exchange for giving someone a donation perk or vice versa is not allowed. You are also not allowed to sell something you obtained from a donation perk (such as asking for diamonds in exchange for your player head or asking diamonds for a coloured sign service). You're free to, for example, give your player head to someone or make a coloured sign for someone, so long as you do it for free. If you wish to gift someone a donation perk you can enter their username on the buycraft page.
Some additional things:
- Inappropriate content isn't welcome. This includes NSFW content but also things such as very dark humor, swastikas made out of emojis, or anything of the like, even if it's in the #dank_memes_steel_beams channel.
- Breaking rule #4 is not okay even if you're just joking to a friend. In these cases please keep that to private messages and outside of public chat.
- Mute, jail & ban appeals should be kept to the Ban Appeals board. Do not go around complaining about it else where on the forums, in-game or on discord. If you wish you talk to a moderator in-game about your jail/mute please do so through PM, though you may still be redirected to the Ban Appeals board.
- Evading your jail/mute/ban using another account is obviously not allowed.
- On discord, try to keep pictures out of #general. They may be posted in #pictures instead. Or #dank_memes_steel_beams if it's a meme.
