I saw in chat that fastbrake, the mayor of gold town, didn't want gold town anymore. They were going to sell it, leaving it behind so that they can start a new life living
solo. I teleported to him taking a look around and reminding myself what a bad town looks like.
What did I find?
- Players made their own claims wherever they pleased because...
- The (apprentice ranked) mayor doesn't have enough claimblocks to cover gold town in one big claim and create subclaims where residents are permitted to build. Because of
this fastbrake would have to contact staff to kick any inactive town members out of the town to remove their claim and their build/house since they can't do it themselves.
It makes simplex staff soft managers of the town without their permission.
- A mayor that didn't care about the future of the town or its residents. It would be up to the new owner to remove any residents that were inactive.
Making a town must be such a cool thing to do yet why is it executed so badly?
If you want to make a good town could you please
Build in a good location, be an active mayor, claim your entire town and subclaim the areas where you want plots to be, have a way to keep inactive residents out
and active ones in (the shopping districts sign system), decide what to do with the belongings of old town members (auction it off, lottery), Have someone to succeed you
(the mayor) if you are away from simplex for too long or if you step down so the town at least has an owner that is active.
Bonus: Give a reason/incentive to build and live in a town, resident only benefits/services/events is an example.
