A full reset should only be a last resort. I don't want many of the fine builds and progress I and many others made since the genesis of simplex gone because "we can't experience the new features without a reset" "I didn't invest that much time into the server so I'm fine with starting again" There is many novelties to be lost with the reset that you don't want to lose. I'd be fine with Meehan putting the world up for download on mediafire(or similar site) if we do ever reset or abandon the current world. We can visit our builds and others at anytime we want in singleplayer plus we wouldn't have to worry about our builds being lost.
Back when I played with friends on LAN during Beta Minecraft We would have two worlds, our main world and a colony world. The main world would be where all of our builds werewe never reset it. To make everything renewable we would make a colony world which was primarily for resource gathering. I'd import a building into the world with what me and my other friends wants to care over between the worlds. If we got tired of the colony world or a new update came around with stuff that couldn't be found in our old main world we would make a new colony world.
This is the same as "a small resource world" Kitty suggested in this thread (I'd quote you kitty but idk how to do that  ) This can be done for simplex but not without keeping semi-vanilla status since everything would be renewable cause the resource/colony world would get reset periodically or when a new update comes out that the old world cannot offer (like generated structures/biomes).

Honestly at this point... Another server looks like a better option. Just wait to see what happens... :/ A reset is just a last resort option.

If we do go with two servers I think its time to train up more staff and decided if the new 2nd server should be either the Hardcore one Meehan brought up or a more classic, peaceful simplex we have now.

I think it should be classic, but on hard mode, slightly higher than the current difficulty on Simplex.

I could care less either way about if we do/don't reset. I've done my best to keep my builds small in case of such event. Expand the borders, great. Reset the server, great. The two server setup, in my opinion, is not a good idea. It basically separates the community and will, in time, create a toxic environment between players who play on either server.

I'd like to see a partial reset: That is, reset all the chunks where people haven't built things, so new terrain can be generated
What we could also do is to somehow make a second, bordered-in area on the same map, a few million blocks away. I agree that we shouldn't be able to take any items through, and it would also be cool to have a second End dimension specifically for this area. I know it's possible, I've seen Xisuma do it before. This would also give players access to elytras and shulker boxes again
I still want to keep our current world tho, especially as I've put lots of time into some of the things, and don't want to lose stuff

I'm new, only an apprentice, which means i obviously wouldn't lose as much as old players like Kitty or Luigi etc. But what i have made i have put a lot of work into and would be devastated to see it all gone. Its one thing to join a server for the first time and have to start from scratch, but to work hard on things only to have them deleted is completely different. Like other people, if the world was reset i probably wouldn't return.

Finding the balance to keep the older players and newer players happy is going to be hard, but in the end hopefully that balance will be set. Still keeping up to date with this thread, though. It’s interesting  |

I really still like this idea in the end it bennifits all players weather they want a restart or not each side is given an option. I think this really needs to be what we go with. |
