Howdy, I'm EnderKitty! Recently, I've commissioned myself to build the first and only Public Wither Skeleton Farm, and so far, it's been pretty successful! We've been getting good feedback about it, and players are generally excited that, for the first time, they'll have ready access to a previously rare resource: Wither Skeleton skulls. I'm very proud of what I've started, and even prouder of my volunteers who've helped make this a reality. Granted, it is 4/5ths of the way complete, all that's needed is a retouch of the farm with aesthetics and such. (We welcome any and all volunteers.) One re-occurring problem is that players don't have easy access to the Public Farm, unless they've set home there or they rely on someone else who has. The point is that this Wither Skeleton Farm cannot be public without easy access to the Public. This is where I make an unlikely proposal: to create a brand new warp to the Public Nether Farm. I know, I know, seems very ambitious, unlikely, and a small waste of resources, but if you continue listening, I can assure you, you'll be convinced. How would such a warp be in practice? One way is to have just a simple /warp command for the Nether Farm available for use. (Such a warp would most likely be /warp nether, assuming that does not already exist.) However, if that doesn't seem preferable, there's another way a warp can be created, and that is through the Spawn Warp Zone. By adding a secondary warp that uses command blocks to teleport the player to the Nether Farm. I know that adding a /warp or warp pressure plate isn't something that a certain somebody wants , however there is massive player support for the warp and the Farm itself. The existence of the Nether Farm and the access it requires are integral to the economy and experience of Simplex. Here are five points to defend that statement.
Point #1) The Nether Farm is the first of its kind. Never before have players had easy, (albeit, any access), to a Wither Skeleton Farm. Farms of a similar nature have been created, but for private use. Why shouldn't this be available for everyone? Why must we rely on the availability of other, more private, Nether Farms? We shouldn't.
Point #2) The Nether Farm and warp have overwhelmingly huge support. We've recently polled people about their thoughts about both the Farm and the warp idea, and the result was nearly unanimous: people want this Farm to continue operating, and a warp for it to be created as well. Getting near unanimity on something as big as this, or anything would be infeasible, but alas, near unanimity it has gotten. Getting public approval is half the battle.
Point #3) The Simplex economy is going to be the most impacted. Albeit, in a little sad way, yes, beacons, nether stars, and wither skeleton skulls will lose their value over time. However, this gives people more access to a vital and helpful utility: beacons! Beacons are one of the most beneficial accessories available in the game. This'll enable players to benefit themselves or the players around them by providing access to beacons.
Point #4) The experience of the players of Simplex will be profoundly altered. Touching a little more on what was stated in Point #3, access to the Farm would greatly increase player experience. Beacons are fun. Expensive, but fun. They allow for regeneration, haste, speed, and all that good stuff. We can all agree that beacons will make survival a little more tolerable, and a lot more safe and beneficial.
Point #5) By not allowing public ready access, players can/will use favouritism to restrict other players from using the Nether Farm. By denying and refusing the creation of an all-use warp, which anyone can do, the only method of access is by players who've already set homes there. This creates a monopoly of usage. For instance, one player who has a set home uses the Farm. Another player requests to teleport to them to use it as well, (because it is public). There are no instant and effective measures in place to prevent the player from denying the teleportation request, based on pre-existing or current biases against said player. We all have biases and play favouritism, we're humans. I stay neutral when it comes to the facts, but I don't pretend to not be bias towards some people, or play the favouritism game. To prevent such a disaster from happening, we must allow some form of easy, unobstructed, and reliable way of transporting players to the Nether Farm for usage.
In conclusion, the availability of public utilities such as the Nether Farm is integral of the values of the Simplex server. We have to acknowledge the enormous public outcry for such a Farm and warp to exist, we have to be able to get out of our comfort zones and do something we wouldn't want to do every once in a while . We also have to address the fact that people stand to be hurt by denying access to the Farm. The community has given a substantial amount of resources to the project, like time, labour, payment, and items (again, thank you very much for your help!). We cannot be in a position to deny the public usage of something they helped to create. We must create an easy access warp to ensure that a public farm is available to the Public. Thank you for your time.
