Hey All,
Whats your thoughts on a new jail system which is more accurate to real life jail where if you do community work you will reduce your sentence hours. Still have the jail as a bedrock area where the prisoner cannot leave but a larger area where you can do the below activities and all the proccedes are sent to the community farm, community storage and community furnaces (also would a community smelter be good at spawn?.
- Plant, cut and replace trees. -> All the logs to go into a furnace to produce charcoal. -> Charcoal goes to a community smelter. - Plant, break and replace crops. -> All the crops are sent to the community farm. - Sheer Sheep for wool. -> All wool is sent to a community storage. - Mining area to bedrock. -> All blocks and ores are sent to a community storage.
These are some of the ideas i have thought of which will not destroy the world but will help out with the community. The tasks above will reduce the players sentence, as a guide "for every 64 charcoal created 1 hour will be reduced of there sentence" I think this is a good ratio as the player will have to show they really want to put in the hours to play on the server again and it also helps the community.
I would be more than willing to create this jail on an island or somewhere away from spawn.
Please let me know your ideas.

Make them dig out my hole. No, but for real having the opportunity to do this means instead of a week long jail they could get out in just a few hours. If they are online when they get jailed they might just go straight to work and be out in an hour or 2 and I know it is possible but most players don't learn from mistakes in just a few hours. And if they go back to what they did wrong and get caught again it could be more than just a jail. The current system we have works just fine. If it is not broke then don't fix it.

I defiantly think there needs to be improvements. Maybe an hour takes off so many minutes instead. If the plan is to get them to learn from this, rewarding them with so much time taken off is not a good idea. Also, they did commit a crime and a temp ban usually sorts them out. Overall an interesting idea.

When you say community its public right? If so after their sentence is up they can just take from that same community storage/smelter/farm they were giving to unless of course someone else take it before they do. Having something like this would give players something to do while they are in jail though...do you really want that? Especially since that time playing will reduce their jail time?

I don't know why everyone is voting "No". I mean, whoever gets sent to jail normally deserves it, and they can help the WHOLE COMMUNITY when they do you community work. If they really want to play on Simplex so badly after being sent to jail, they could help THEMSELVES as well as the COMMUNITY by decreasing their time in jail Of course, a set time will need to be considered, but I think that this is an AMAZING idea
