What do you take with you when you go strip mining?

Minimal mining mode:
- diamond pickaxe with efficiency V, fortune III, unbreaking III, mending
- torches
- stack o' steak

Medium mining mode:
- diamond pickaxe (as above)
- diamond shovel with efficiency IV or V, fortune II (helpful for flint mining), unbreaking III, mending
- torches
- logs (->planks->sticks) to make torches with coal I find along the way
- stack o' steak

Max mining mode, for cave and mineshaft exploration:
- diamond pickaxe (as above)
- diamond shovel (as above)
- torches
- full armour, sword, bow and arrows
- bucket of water (for obsidian mining)
- bucket of lava (to dump excess cobble as I go)
- stack o' steak

I always wear a fully enchanted armor set and elytra, and bring with me my best pickaxe, bow, sword, shovel and axe. And a water bucket, beef and torch.

I always do that, no matter what I do in minecraft. Might be a stupid thing to do though...

Mine might be a bit different but assuming we're strip mining, I would bring (in order left to right in toolbar, then actual inventory space):

1.) Diamond Sword (caves & mobs).
2.) Bow (Infinity or mending + arrows inside of inventory space).
3.) Diamond Pickaxe (Silk Touch, default pickaxe).
4.) Diamond Pickaxe (Fortune 3).
5.) Diamond Shovel (Gravel & Dirt underground).
6.) Enderpearls x 16 (Out of lava, or into or out of ravines.)
7.) Free Slot (To be filled with stone/cobble for filling holes while mining).
8.) Torches x64
9.) Food that fills value of at least 3.5 hunger icons x 64

Inventory Space
- Arrows
- ENDER CHEST
- Water Bucket (Incase you need an obsidian ocean. If needed, put water aside and use bucket to fuel furnace with lava.)
- Crafting Table (To compact coal, redstone, and lapis into blocks.)
- Wood x 64 (Torches, Chests, etc. You'll find the coal along the way for torches.)
- OPTIONAL: Furnace (I personally smelt all my iron and gold back at home, but you can smelt gold/iron and then compact it into blocks.)

Ender Chest - Stick items back in here after use, and re-mine using the silk touch pick.
- Empty Shulker Boxes (To hold all your loot).
- More Food.
- More Ender Pearls.
- More Arrows, if mending bow.
- Speed potions if you don't have a sethome back for some reason.)

Armor For Your Minecraft Booty:
- Preferably all diamond armor.
- Feather Falling on boots. (Shot/Blown off into a ravine.)
- 3x Protection IV, OPTIONAL 4.
- OPTIONAL 1x Fire Protection IV.

And I think that's about it. After a while of surviving in MC I came up with using this and since then I've never died or had any problem while mining, whether or not I find a stronghold, mineshaft, ravine, lava pools, caves, or tons of ores. If I need to use any other item that's not inside of the toolbar, I temporarily sub out the enderpearls, and stick em back once I'm done.

Armor, tools, bucket, torches, food, and an empty shulker box for extra storage.
