Hey guys,This is a continuation of the two previous threads: simplex.boards.net/thread/2243/nether-update-16-reset-pollsimplex.boards.net/thread/2245/1-16-reset-poll-roundThe last poll had a tie between the second option (1 vote was mistakenly deleted), 47 votes between both Nether and Full reset. Since we're not going to waste time redoing the poll again in hope for a different result, I'm just going to make the decision myself. We are going to have one last poll between a Soft Reset and Full Reset. Sorry to those who voted for Nether Reset. As was the case before, I'm going to update the poll options slightly. I'll try to give a full rundown of each option whilst being as impartial as I can. In the end, you have to decide for yourself if my reasons are correct or not. If any attempt is made to illegitimately manipulate the poll, we will ban the user from the server, discord and forums.
Voting Restricitons: To vote you must meet at least one of the following requirements: - Played on the server for longer than 15 hours - Joined the server at least 2 months ago
In addition to meeting the above requirements, if you are a banned player you have to appeal your ban before you vote. If you vote and your forum account does not meet the voting requirements, your forum account will be deleted to negate your vote.
Soft Reset: All worlds will be reset. Ranks/donations/votes will be kept. Community-appreciated builds will be transferred. All Players' Inventory and Enderchest will be transferred over with NO restrictions on items. Shopping District and Community Farm will be transferred. Individual player builds/projects will NOT be transferred. This is essentially a map reset, taking with us everything we possibly can without it being too much work on the admins. It is not feasible for us to transfer individual player builds as that would take too long and it would inevitably end up being unfair to someone who was not present at the time. An argument for voting soft reset over a full reset is that players have put effort into obtaining their gear/items and they'd rather not do it again. They value the time they put in to the server already, and would rather not it all be for nothing. The economic situation may not be exactly the same immediately after a soft reset due to the removal of players' farms, however this would only be temporary. This is due to the transfer of the Shopping District and Community Farm, and the transfer of players' items/gear which will help them rebuild their farms faster.
Full Reset: All worlds will be reset. Ranks/donations/votes will be kept. Community-appreciated builds will be transferred. Any non-valuable/sentimental items of the players' choice can be transferred. One valuable item of the players choice can be transferred. Non-valuable items can include map art, skulls, banners or anything cosmetic which does not affect survival game-play. This is a chance to start over completely fresh, but with the support and help of a community working together. Aside from the transfer of player's non-valuable sentimental items, one valuable, and a few monuments that show homage to the past, it will be an exciting beginning with infinite possibilities. An argument for voting full reset over soft reset is that players want a fresh start where the economy starts from zero.
I encourage the community to continue the discussion below in a respectful manner. The poll will be up for at most one week, it will close sooner than that if the outcome is obvious before then.
This thread may be subject to changes.

okay so hear me out here... if we go soft reset then the people who want full reset can just chuck their stuff in lava before everything happens! everyone’s happy, problem solved. if people are worried about an unfair advantage then they shouldn’t be voting for full reset because that’s just saying “just because i want to start over means everyone else has to too.” if you wanna start over, start over. if you want to keep as many items possible, do that. #softresetftw
okay thanks love you bye -rach

I personally want a hard reset because I think everyone starting off fresh will be better and more fun for the community. Otherwise people will run all over the world in the first hour claiming everything important (strongholds, outposts, areas near spawn, woodlands mansions, etc). People who just threw their stuff away to mimic a hard reset would miss out on all of that. I've been playing for almost a decade now and I have seen a few server resets. They're always tough, but the sense of community and watching the world grow is amazing.
I also am rather on the fence, I may change my vote with some good reasons!

So with a soft reset pet fish will be safe from death, and so will pet bees you can bring eggs of both turtle and chicken variety so it's like you're bringing pet turtles and pet chickens. This is my case.
Long live the Cod God and his Sargent Salmon

You could burn your stuff without a reset if you just want to get rid of your progress. I'm for a soft reset bc I don't want to lose a year's work entirely.

The Hard reset wouldn't reset the available claimblocks (at least bonus claimblocks). People donated real money to get those blocks - I don't see Meehan removing those. The same issue would be present regardless of the type of reset.

I gues for me the only reason I voted full instead of soft was that I didn't like to take builds to new world. So now I'm like OK let's go soft. At least fresh world. And people can keep skulls and history.

I wish I could dislike a post.
This server has been running for over 4 years. People have been playing this serve for over 4 years. Yet here we are, new people, and people who don't play on the server deciding what will happen to it. These new restrictions should have been put in place in the 1st poll Meehan, not this one. You should try asking the active players what they want, not the ones that have not been online in forever. Those inactive players tipped the scale to favor a hard reset server which they will most likely just leave once again in a few months, whereas the people who actually play the server are wanting to keep at least some of the progress they spent the past years building upon. Instead of you deciding the vote yourself Meehan, which no offense but it seems at times you make terrible decisions, you should have put those restrictions in first into the 2nd poll, then created a 3rd poll. But what is done is done, so, Meehan, unless your gonna use your power to just change things again, lets move on.
Those voting hard reset say that the economy will be unbalanced, its always unbalanced, go work to get better. If you are a person that has not been on in a few months and are voting hard, go find or stay on a different server instead of coming back to this one and splitting it in two. Cause it seemed like I never heard from y'all in a long time, until now where you want a Hard reset. Go Hard reset someplace else. To those few active players that want a Hard Reset. By all means just take no items with you, the economy will take a short time to get stabilized but the SD is going to do its best to make it stabilized. If that hurts you, the don't join the economy for a few months, you can survive. But if you want a full reset, then by all means go find another server. This reset is going to split the server. People are going to quit either way. Why kick the people who want to stay out and let those who can just go find a different server to exist on stay?
People have worked tirelessly for their builds, for their items, for the server. Now people want to just throw most of that out in favor of their own benefit. If you want a hard reset, go someplace else. #Soft Reset

I have no problem with that, rather the huge hoards of wealth being brought over. Anways, I was actually someone who wanted just the nether reset, so I definitely did not vote for a hard reset out of boredom. I think my friends and I will probably try to finish up our town before the reset (and maybe move the map file to a realm to finish it up if we run out of time). I'm definitely excited for a new map above everything else. I just hope that some of the problems with this one aren't replicated on the next one. Also, hopefully the corona impact on my life are over soon, because they have been greatly limiting my playtime.

So this has not affected the previous votes as this new measure is only to ensure that alt accounts with alt IP's are not voting in order to sway the vote in their favour. Ideally I would have put this in the first poll, but it's better to get things done imperfectly than not get done at all. We're on a time constraint here. Um, I should try asking the players what they want? What do you think I'm doing here? Both votes are legitimate options, and there's a reason why people who want a full reset don't vote for soft reset and don't bring anything over. It's a different economic landscape.

To clear up any misinterpretation, non-valuable sentimental items can be transferred over in either event. This can include for example map art, skulls, banners or anything cosmetic which does not affect survival game-play.

This is an argument that I was thinking about myself. But this is not something that is a valid reason to choose for an hard reset in my opinion. If u do a hard reset at some point of time and a starter joins 2 weeks after that then he is allready behind the rest. Or for example you do not play very often and other people can play a lot. So I do not think this should be a reason to vote hard reset for that reason only. It is allmost impossible to level all player with eachother because of the stated arguments above. Thats why I can agree with Rachel, it does not matter if u want a hard reset and want to start fresh. Just leave everything behind so u can start fresh. But then still you can say not all players are on the same level. It will never happen some will have more time to play then others. So I think it is the best thing to go soft and if u want a hard reset do not take stuff with you.
