Hello everyone.
For the past two days, there has been a problem with voting on TopG. Whenever you attempt to connect to the website, for some players, it gives an error saying that the DNS server could not be found. For others, it works normally.
To temporarily fix this problem, use your mobile data on your phone to vote. If not, try to use another network. Try a different browser. This worked for me, but it took several attempts to do so. Clearing your cache and cookies might not work since I have also tried to do that.
Another error I see here is when some players who are able to connect to the website try to vote, they receive a message from the webpage saying that they have already voted when they have not done so. I don’t know what happens, but usually when I see that message, I connect to a different WiFi network or use mobile data on my phone and it goes through afterwards.
Two nights ago, it was not working for anyone. Yesterday, it worked for some players. Today, hopefully, these problems are fixed. Those are some solutions that I have found.
Cheers, Luigi (Guerrrrero)
P.S. I was going to make this thread yesterday, but I held back.

Also, by the way, these solutions might not work for everyone who has this problem. If it doesn’t work, just be patient because within a few days this problem might be fixed.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that you can attempt to use VPNs as well.

The particular problem some players have been experiencing lately, is nothing anyone of us can do anything about.
The short explanation: If you try again, it will most likely work after a while, or after an even longer while. The problem is sporadic.
Temporary workaround: If you really can't wait to vote, you can add two lines into your hosts-file, which at Windows is located at C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\. The file is just named "hosts", and the two lines you need to add at the bottom of it are:
104.20.5.153 topg.org 104.20.6.153 topg.org
The long explanation and nerdy stuff:
The problem is laying at topg's hosting provider, or most likely at the provider that hosts their domain, probably Cloudflare, and their DNS-servers.
It seems like the domain topg.org doesnt respond to DNS at random times. If you try to look up what NS-servers are responsible for hosting the domains DNS-zones, it wont even respond to that half the time:
The same goes ofc for resolving the IP-adress for the domain topg.org:
All we can do is wait, or probably contact cloudflare or topg directly, but I guess there is no point, as they most likely will fix it at some point anyways.

Well, I actually haven't experienced this problem. TopG seems to work fine for me. If you vote on mobile, an easy way to get around the DNS issue is to activate a VPN (Betternet, Turbo VPN are good ones on mobile) while you're voting. That should be a suitable workaround for the time being, but I'm no computer engineer! Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Thanks for the helpful response SnuRRe. Will try when I log on my computer later.
Yes, it was the host problem. A few days ago, it did say that there was an error with the host, it was down entirely. But thanks 😬
EDIT: It works again. If TopG or the other voting site somehow stops working again, this thread and every response will give the reasons why and how to solve it.

There is still a host problem, at their dns hosting provider. And with that type of problem, you probably wont be able to work around it by using vpn anyways.

I was able to vote on TopG flawlessly. Not sure if it's because I was using a VPN? Could it also maybe be a regional issue.?

True, that might also be a thing. Not sure how we can check where we need a vpn connection to for it to work though

Maybe. My VPN is allowing me to vote. Not sure. Can someone test TopG again without a VPN and tell us what happened? Much appreciated.
